We are pleased to welcome Pastor Geoff Holsclaw to the Missio Alliance Writing Team! Geoff brings a tremendous amount of experience and scholarship to us. He has been a Co-Pastor at Life on the Vine, a missional church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, since 2003. An Affiliate Professor of Theology at Northern Seminary, he also serves as Director for the Master of Arts program in Theology and Mission. Geoff received a Ph.D. from Marquette University in Religious Studies in 2013. In addition to local church pastoring, Geoff participates in the regional and national movement of missional churches through Ecclesia Network.

Geoff’s interests in theology are the intersection of worship, politics, and theology. He co-authored Prodigal Christianity: 10 Signposts into the Missional Frontier with Missio Alliance Leading Voice Dave Fitch. The two co-pastored together for ten years at Life on the Vine. Geoff and Dave bring their experiences as pastors and professors to bear on issues of church, mission, and theology in their podcast, Theology on Mission, where they also invite their listeners into the antics of their long standing friendship.

A native Californian who now calls Chicago home, Geoff is happily married to Cyd and they have two boys, Soren and Tennyson.

The Missio Alliance Writing Team is a diverse group of Christian leaders who co-labor in a ministry of writing to resource theological practitioners for mission. We publish articles by these friends, along with regular “community voices,” across five Writing Collectives—CultureFormationTheology, Global Church, and Witness. Geoff is thrilled to join the Writing Team in service to our broader vision, believing Missio Alliance’s work to be essential for the church in North America in these times.

“As a pastor and a professor, I believe Missio Alliance is essential for crafting an imagination for living on mission in the 21st century.”

He has already demonstrated a great capacity for adding to the kind of conversation we seek to cultivate here in the following articles:
