The #SheLeads Story

We are immeasurably grateful for all the people who came together to host the #SheLeads Summit on Saturday. Between the main venue in Chicago (Northern Seminary), Regional Venues in Seattle (Fuller Northwest), Los Angeles (Pasadena Nazarene Church), Kansas City (Nazarene Theological Seminary), Philadelphia (Biblical Theological Seminary), and Boston (Eastern Nazarene College), viewing parties at another ten different locations, and others viewing the live stream across the country, we estimate that over 500 (mainly female) church and ministry leaders joined us for this first time event!

“Thanks” doesn’t begin to describe how grateful we are to our Summit Co-Leaders, Angie Hong and Shawna Songer Gaines, each and everyone of the group and organizations who helped make the Summit possible as co-sponsoring partners, and of course our featured presenters in Chicago: Jo Anne Lyon, David Fitch, Carolyn Custis James, Chi Chi Okwu, and Jo Saxton – along with some many other incredible leaders who added to the local conversations across all the other regional venues. This Summit made space for the sharing of stories too often untold, offering of perspectives too often marginalized, and the extending of essential challenges that must be reckoned with as we pursue faithfulness to God’s mission in our day.

We are looking forward to getting the content of the Summit edited so that many who weren’t able to participate in the Summit might glean from what was shared as well. In the meantime, here’s a snapshot of some of the insights and observations that people shared along the way.
