Episode 31: Ministry Burnout, Depression, Anxiety and Really Getting to Know Jesus

Mike’s guest on this episode is someone who has been on mission to make disciples and grow the church all of his adult life. His name is Tony Plummer, and along with his wife Lisa, they live and minister in Venice, FL. Tony is here to encourage all of us to keep going in the ministry God has called us to. His story – which is still being written – is one of high highs and some pretty low lows. In the early 2000s, Tony had what he describes as a “complete breakdown” as a result of ministry burnout, depression, and anxiety that sidelined him for over a year. All of this led him to the realization that he didn’t really know Jesus like he thought he did. He’s here to share what he has learned – and is still learning – through all of this. So, if you’re on mission – whether in your neighborhood, with friends or co-workers, or at your church, then this conversation about how to deal with and even avoid ministry burnout will be so important.
