Pastor Efrem Smith is an internationally recognized leader who uses motivational speaking and preaching to equip people for a life of transformation. He consults on issues of multi-ethnicity, leadership and community development. Pastor Smith is the former- president and CEO of World Impact, an urban mission, church planting and leadership-development organization. He is the current co-lead Pastor of Bayside Church, Midtown. He’s the author of several books, including his latest, Killing Us Softly. Pastor Smith is a graduate of Saint John’s University and Luther Theological Seminary. He received an honorary doctor of ministry degree from Ashland Theological Seminary. He’s currently a doctoral student in Church Leadership at Fuller Seminary.
Tara Beth Leach is the Senior Pastor at First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena (“PazNaz”) in Southern California. She is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (B.A. Youth Ministry) and Northern Theological Seminary (M.Div.).
She is a regular writer for Missio Alliance and has contributed to other publications such as Christianity Today, Christian Week, The Jesus Creed, The Table Magazine, Reflecting the Image Devotional, Renovating Holiness, and most recently a chapter in The Apostle Paul and the Christian Life: Ethical and Missional Implications of the New Perspective with other contributors including N.T. Wright, James D.G. Dunn, Scot McKnight, and Bruce Longenecker. Her chapter is entitled “The Symphonic Melody: Wesleyan Holiness Theology Meets New Perspective Paul.” Tara Beth is also the author of the Beacon Hill Press book, Kingdom Culture and the InterVarsity Press book, Emboldened.
She has two beautiful and rambunctious children, Caleb and Noah, and has been married to the love of her life, Jeff, since 2006.
David Fitch is B. R. Lindner Chair of Evangelical Theology at Northern Seminary Chicago, IL. He’s married to Rae Ann and they have one child, a son Max. He’s pastored and participated in many church plants including Life on the Vine Christian Community a missional church in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Most recently he and his family have joined Peace of Christ Church, Westmont, a church planted from Life on the Vine. He writes on the issues the local church must face in Mission including cultural engagement, leadership and theology. His theology combines Neo-Anabaptist streams of thought, his commitments to evangelicalism nd his love for political theory. He is the author of Faithful Presence: How God Shapes the Church for the Sake of the World and other books.
Juliet Liu is a co-pastor at Life on the Vine, a missional church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She is married to Sheldon Waite and they have two children, Isaiah and Ezra. Juliet is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Prior to coming to Life on the Vine in 2010, she ministered in Asian-American local church settings and on diverse university campuses. Between her time pastoring disciples on mission, parenting two young boys, and adjunct teaching at Trinity International University, she enjoys having friends over to try her latest cooking experiments, including childhood favorite foods from her Vietnamese and Chinese upbringing.
