One of the hallmarks of the reformed tradition is our doctrine of election. However, given our emphasis on human depravity, our good belief has become skewed into something that postures us with privilege as many in our circles have come to see themselves as “the elect”. However, what if instead of privilege we were chosen for responsibility? What if, instead of “the chosen” we saw ourselves more as “the called”. Maybe it’s time we reconsider this hallmark belief in both doctrine and practice.
