Polycentric Missional Leadership (J.R. Woodward)

This workshop led by J.R. Woodward, author of Creating a Missional Culture, looks at the need for polycentric leadership in the church. What do our leadership structures communicate to our people, especially as it concerns the need for all members of the body to be equipped and released in their gifts? Are we creating a culture that sets our whole church on mission?

Workshop Description:

It has been said that Christianity started out in Palestine as a fellowship, became a philosophy in Greece, an institution in Rome, a government in Europe, and an enterprise in America. As the church has uncritically adopted a corporate world mentality in North America, it has distorted her approach to leadership, structure, discipleship, community and mission. If we want to cultivate a community of mature missional disciples, we need to have a polycentric approach to leadership, rather than a hierarchical or flat approach. Come discover and dialogue about what polycentric leadership is and why it is crucial in today’s context.
