Resurrecting Leadership: Stewarding the Spirit’s Work in Ministry and Mission 1

Christian leadership is, first and foremost, a spiritual affair. Rather than being consumed with “what works” or “what’s trendy,” leadership that honors God is primarily concerned with faithfully discerning and stewarding the work of the Spirit among God’s people. The resurrection provides a vital and all too often overlooked point of reference for thinking about and practicing Christian leadership. As the first fruit of God’s new creation, Jesus was raised and received “all power in heaven and on earth.” It is in light of this reality – the final and full authority of Jesus over all things – that Christian leadership finds its rightful orientation.
